First, I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peoplevstate.com\/?p=2225\">owe to it<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jeremy6d\">Jeremy Weiland @jeremy6d<\/a> my discovery of Ernst Juenger, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ernst-juenger.org\/p\/anarch-quotes.html#AN3\">whose work has led me<\/a> to no longer describe myself as an &#8220;anarchist.&#8221; Then, in response to an appeal I broadcasted for a definition of socialism that is both authoritative and sympathetic, fellow anarchic Midwestern lawyer David S. D&#8217;Amato <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dsdamato\">@dsdamato<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dsdamato\/status\/256932798806519808\">answered the call<\/a> with exactly what I was looking for, the following definition from Benjamin Tucker:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Socialism is the belief that the next important step in progress is a change in man\u2019s environment of an economic character that shall include the abolition of every privilege whereby the holder of wealth acquires an anti-social power to compel tribute.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;ve added this definition to my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peoplevstate.com\/?page_id=2212\">Definitions page<\/a>. Of course, there are other definitions of this word, such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\/stream\/democracyversuss00hirsrich#page\/54\/mode\/2up\">this one<\/a> from Single Taxer Max Hirsch, which is both more comprehensive and narrower than Tucker&#8217;s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who says Twitter is a waste of time?
